Tile Repair

     Ceramic soap dishes on tile shower surrounds are one of the most common repairs that we make. Many times this dish is a convenient "pull up bar" for children in the tub, or as a resting place for a female's foot as she shaves her legs. This leads to failure in the shower. Pin-holes in the grout and improper caulking often let water through as well (which is another reason to have your shower or surround re-grouted and re-caulked) and leads to shower failures and water getting through. Actually, tile and grout are NOT water proof and an improperly built shower will soak right through and grow mold and destroy the wall behind your tile. (* See more on this below)

     For many years in the tile industry, showers and surrounds were built using greenboard instead of cement board. This was done to cut corners and to cut cost. However, it's a terrible situation to be in if your shower or surround fails and water gets through. (As I said above, tile and grout are NOT water proof, but more on this later.)

     We can come in an replace the damaged area with new cement board and tiles. Since it's impossible to perfectly match the color of the new tile to your existing tile (even though we can get it close in most cases), some people opt to have the shower or surround refinished after the repair so the color is consistent throughout. This process is far less costly than ripping out all the tile and replacing it with new tile. Our Multistone™ colors are a very popular choice for getting a granite or stone type look. If we spray our coatings on your tile and grout it will then be water proof, but just replacing the tile and grout will not make your shower water tight. (See below)

Tile Installation

     We also offer our customers new tile installation in cases where they have a plastic tub surround or really severe tile damage where repair would take more effort than replacing. In fact, this is what we use to do before we became certified and trained in refinishing. We would tear out old tile and replace it whenever someone just wanted a new color. Now we save our customers thousands of dollars to get the same results.

    We can build you a new shower from scratch, a new tile surround, install tile flooring, backsplashes, tile walls, tables, et cetera. Tile is one of the most durable surfaces (when proper tile selection is made) and will last you for many years to come with proper care and maintenance.

     When we build a new shower surround for you we use state of the art products that completely make your shower water tight. Our showers and tub surrounds lock out water completely preventing you from the problems we discussed earlier. Your child can rip the soap dish clean off the wall and your shower will not disintegrate like showers of old. Your shower will remain water tight even without that dish in place (provided they didn't also puncture a hole in the waterproof membrane we use which would be highly unlikely).

     And lastly, we do NOT cut corners on installing tile! Our processes for tile installation are ordinary and customary in the tile industry. Just leaving one of these necessary steps out will leave you with an incomplete tile job. There are quite a few folks out there that will leave out steps in order to cut cost and charge less money, but in the long run you'll pay far more to correct the damage caused by their incompetence.
